      <image:title>Work - Why healthcare?</image:title>
<image:caption>Outside of Amazon’s pursuit in the healthcare space with (1) its joint venture with J.P. Morgan and Berkshire Hathaway and (2) its plans to open health clinics for its employees, today’s millennial workers simply do care about their health. They’re quite possibly more open about their health issues than previous generations were. Those in the tech industry are especially concerned about work-life balance. However, how millennials prefer to access healthcare is different from previous generations. Now, it’s not unusual for a young person to not have a primary care provider (PCP) that they always go to for their health issues. Unlike their parents, more millennials are using retail clinics, urgent care centers (acute care clinics), or emergency rooms for nonemergency care. They prefer these walk-in clinics and medical centers because they don’t require much planning in advance and are open in the evenings and weekends. In other words, they’re more convenient. They don’t really want to see doctors unless they have to, and when they do, cost is their biggest concern.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work</image:title>
<image:caption>Entering the office on my first day with excitement, I had expected that “Bing ads” meant I’d be working on search ads. Later, I learned that my product for the summer would be Microsoft’s native advertising solution, called the Microsoft Audience Network (MSAN). As the product is new, I was excited about the project I’d be working on. The first few weeks, I was overwhelmed (in a good way) with all that I had to learn about Bing ads, audience targeting, MSAN, and honestly, Microsoft overall. I spent a lot of time learning the ins-and-outs of MSAN, as well as researching the native ad industry, which is definitely expanding in the next few years. As I became comfortable with the space and product I’d be working with, I began to use Power BI to learn about the metrics/KPIs we tracked and investigate the reasons behind certain metrics shifting over the past weeks or months. I also started speaking with the vendor data team that I’d work with for my summer project. Right off the bat, my manager emphasized that I’d get to take ownership of the business questions I wanted to answer, what data I needed to answer these questions, and how I did the analysis to offer insights and recommendations. At first, I was a little daunted by the ownership I had, but I gained confidence throughout the summer as I became more familiar with my work. I was also aided by the two courses I had taken at Wharton that directly prepared me for my internship: Analytics in the Digital Economy (OIDD 245 - you can see my 2 data projects for the class on this website) and Digital Marketing (MKTG 270).</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work</image:title>
<image:caption>Especially since Trump’s election, many women have become increasingly concerned over their healthcare (e.g. losing coverage for sexual and reproductive health services under ACA, the recent gag rule, etc.). In general, from my readings and observations, I noticed that women are not really talking about the health issues that are truly bothering them. After some digging, I also realized there aren’t much data on what women are actually concerned about and how that’s changed between pre- and post-Trump election. Thus, I wanted to make this the focus of my project. Although it’s unlikely that women feel uncomfortable expressing concerns out loud and in person, talking online is more accessible and in-the-reach. This “digital exhaust” might reveal some interesting insights.</image:caption>

<image:caption>We planned Instagram post content series based on topics we ourselves wanted to learn about and wished we had known more about, everything from how to approach an OBGYN appointment, sustainable period products to try, personal stories around vaginismus, vocabulary around relationship abuse, interviews with our moms on their first periods, and more. We experimented on how to present such information and learned how our audience—other mainly women Gen Zers—engaged with health content on Instagram. We have been lucky to work with 7 volunteer team members, collaborate with 6 other content creators and/or brands on content or giveaways, and get interviewed on 2 podcasts. During 1.5 years, we created 140 pieces of post content together for 1600+ followers, which I feel so proud of.</image:caption>
